The Hunterdon Scoop / Hire

About these pages

I live in Hunterdon County. Our 180-year-old newspaper stopped printing last year, and the question I kept watching neighbors ask each other in Facebook groups and on Nextdoor was always the same one: "Can anyone recommend a..." A roofer, a paver, a septic guy, a plumber. The answers were eleven names, no facts, and every so often a horror story from someone who picked wrong.

Eleven names is not an answer. So there are two things here instead. Each trade page tells you what the job costs in this county, what to check before you sign, and every company in the county directory that does the work, in alphabetical order. And if you would rather skip all of that, tell me the job and I send back one name, within one business day, free.

Who's behind it

The Hunterdon Scoop, the county's free twice-weekly email newsletter, written by Steve, who lives here. The newsletter covers life in the county twice a week. These pages handle the "who should I call" question the rest of the time.

How it pays for itself

The newsletter pays for it. There is no paid placement on these pages and no company pays to be the name I send back, which is spelled out in how these pages work. If that ever changes, it gets labeled where it appears.
