What this site is

The Hunterdon Scoop is a weekly newsletter about life in Hunterdon County, plus a set of free things built to go with it: a business directory, county tools, a jobs board, and Who to hire, a concierge that connects readers with one home-services provider per request. The directory is built from public records and open map data, with each listing showing the date it was last checked and the full source list on the directory's own methodology page. All of it is journalism-shaped consumer information, not professional advice — not legal, financial, engineering, or construction advice.

What we promise

That every directory listing carries the date it was last checked, with sources documented on the methodology page. That confirmed errors get corrected in place within 48 hours of documentation. And that no directory listing or ordering can be bought. Sponsored placements, when they exist, are labeled where they appear.

What we can't promise

That a registry hasn't changed since our check-date (registrations expire and renew constantly, that's why we print dates and give you the tools to re-check live). That a company with a clean record will do good work on your job. That review scores reported by third-party platforms are accurate — we report them with sources, we don't audit them. Hiring decisions and their outcomes are yours.

Listings

Directory listings are free, alphabetical, and built from the public record; no company pays for or approves its inclusion, and nothing on this site is ranked. Nothing on this site is a guarantee of workmanship.

The Who to hire concierge

Who to hire connects you with one provider per request, chosen to fit the job and town you describe. Providers will be able to pay a set monthly fee to work with the concierge; none pays today. Payment never buys the matching decision, a ranking, or a guarantee of the outcome. Whether to hire the provider you're matched with, and how that job goes, is between you and them.

Disputes and corrections

Businesses and readers alike: email [email protected] with the document that shows a fact is wrong, and the page changes within 48 hours of confirmation. That is the dispute process.

The Hunterdon Scoop and this site's contents are ours; the trademarks of listed businesses belong to their owners, and appearing here implies no affiliation.
