Every date comes from NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information 1991-2020 Climate Normals, the 32 degree freeze-date elements, read straight from the per-station files linked in the table above. Of the 243 stations with normals in the August 9, 2026 survey of the search box, 13 carry freeze dates and 3 of those sit inside Hunterdon County, so each town takes the nearest of those 3 and the rest of the 11 charted stations are context only. Newark Liberty and Trenton-Mercer are left out as large commercial airports in the urbanized corridor: Newark runs the longest season in the region by 24 days, and Trenton-Mercer runs 17 days longer than the Lambertville co-op station six miles away. No elevation correction is applied, because across these stations elevation does not track season length, so any adjustment would be invented rather than measured.
